The Importance of Mentoring our Young People
In 2018 Jim won the Education Fund’s Public School Alumni Achievement Award for excellence in Miami-Dade public schools.
Since then, he has been teaching once a year in select classrooms and raising funds for the students and their teachers.
Jim usually follows the teacher’s lead on the lesson plan.
A few years ago a grade school class wanted to learn about the Holocaust. Jim arranged for a Holocaust survivor to tell his story in their classroom. It was amazing to watch them listen and ask questions.
Jim has also taught high school special needs students and AP level civics students.
Marilyn and Jim discuss how important this program is to our public schools and how you can help these students have a better life by contributing to the Education Fund annual campeign.
